In case you didn’t notice, I’m headed somewhere far beyond these here walls. You can choose to join me as I move ON and UP or you can choose to remain stagnant! That’s really up to you! (If you’re asking “is this me”..no it’s probably not because at least you are self aware and are willing to ask yourself these questions. In fact it’s more of a generality….if a human is going to be toxic…and you won’t let me help you understand the entirety of the situation…then I have no business sticking around.  Today, I am learning to move ON! There are WAY TOO MANY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE for me to get caught up with those with “malintent” or their own personal drama manifested in their head….. I have enough of my own personal drama, I SO don’t need yours!!!! JUST SAYING!

Already planning my first bulletin board for next year…except I want to save it for February.

The ever-glorified kiss scene:

spiderman_kiss2.gif

Last year, we did decades and my floor was the 70’s, which was fun and cool. Next year, we are doing super heroes. My floor’s mascot is Spiderman. That is the base theme for all my boards (limiting? I think so…anyways!)…

First Idea: I might re-create this scene for residents to kiss…It will probably include tips (and maybe some precautions) for great kissing…how to tell if you have a healthy relationship. I could have people kiss their lipstick lips on the board or I could talk about the lead that goes into some lipsticks….I could talk about meningitis…I could encourage taking self defense classes because you never know when spiderman could climb down a building and demand a kiss….a lot of cheesy options for a RA bulletin board……

Not that I’m a pro at this stuff or anything!

Who knows…this could turn into an interesting board..

One of the most fascinating things to think about is that every single human has an entire network of life…I mean think about it, we are points in space and we move around on a relatively stationary world that just sits there… Ideas like the 6 degrees of separation put things into perspective. We are so small, yet each person has so much significance and uniqueness… every personality and appearance is different than the next…Every person you look at sitting in a football arena for the Superbowl has an ENTIRE story, just as big as (or bigger than) yours. Cool.

(The video is public now, so it’s viewable.)

This is a piece that was improvisation! Part of my creative process for choreography is filming some improvisation and finding what works. It’s not the best thing I’ve ever done, but it’s a small taste. Check the youtube page caption for a little hint about my inspiration…or come up with your own opinion. “That’s nice” is an acceptable response.

“Who looks at a rose and asks ‘but what does it mean?’” —> My mantra for most art. If you like it, like it. Let it enrich your life and be done with the critiques. Just a suggestion for lighter living.. :)

1. Dancers do not like school

2. They are not very smart

3. They care only about dancing

4. They dance for themselves and selfish pleasure

5. They are too tiny

6. They are self-centered and vain

7. They are shallow

8. They do not eat properly

9. They all want to be famous

10. They do not love dance if they do not pursue a professional dance career

(False generalizations)

Just as common and true as any regular human…first lesson: dancers are humans first.

Jaimmy’s 3 Favorite Things Connected by Alex’s Crazy Mind:
JEEP-GENIE-SHOE
Jeep needs money, money needs job, job needs body, body needs feet (usually), feet need shoes (sometimes)
Jeep sounds like weep sounds like seap… sounds like sheep..sounds like sheet…sounds like **** POO POO…LOOKS like genie hat.
Jeep reminds me of jeans which reminds me of beans, which reminds me of “teens”, which reminds me of being “teeny”, which rhymes with GENIE!

Someone once told me that sometimes what steps you take in life are not exactly where you want to go, but they might help you get one step closer to where it is that you want to go. For a while, I thought it was okay to tolerate places that were not exactly right …but the whole point of his advice was that you only have to spend an interim period in order to hop to the next stone. Literally like hopping across a river..why would you stay chilling on the rocks when that’s not the destination? Point being, there comes a time when you have to let go of being in places that do not serve your life. I have had the stepping stone of a performance degree that I *thought* would be my direction…I might have to pay my dues and volunteer at the AT&T PAC in order to ever work there as an intern….I have jumped around LA working for dance studios and working with choreographers…being placed in awkward learning situations. But once you know one person and really know them, that’s a whole new opportunity for another rock to be added in the path….right now, I’m deciding which rocks to leave off of and which to hold on to…
